Before an obese patient should even consider liposuction in Los Angeles, he or she must work vigorously on a diet and exercise program. A combination of aerobics such as swimming, walking or skiing along with resistance exercise such as working with free weights will assist the patient in burning calories that will in turn burn the fat. These exercises will speed the metabolism thus allowing the body to burn more calories than the patient consumes the key to weight loss. Utilizing this method will allow even the obese patient to burn fat and return to a normal weight. You may still have some fat pockets remaining, but you can then begin to discuss the options with your doctor or health care provider.
Liposuction for the obese patient is just a goal he or she can work to achieve when the weight is within normal range. Even then the key is to remove as much fat as possible through exercise and use liposuction only in those areas that are resistant. You do not want to attempt to remove too much fat surgically because this is what increases the risks and recovery time of liposuction. Before you resort to liposuction try working specifically on those areas that appear resistant. If you still cannot eliminate the fat pockets you may be a good candidate for liposuction.
